SSC CGL 2024 Dates
The Staff Selection Commission has recently shortened the time taken for each stage of the selection process. Therefore, candidates preparing for SSC CGL can be assured of getting their joining letter around one year after the release of the official Notification.

Who is Eligible for SSC CGL 2024?
To be eligible to apply for SSC CGL 2024, candidates must possess the required qualifications on or before the cutoff date mentioned in the official notification. In addition to the common criteria mentioned below, candidates must have their category, income, or disability certificate if eligible for age relaxation.
Educational Background
Candidates must possess a Graduate or Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or equivalent. For posts like Junior Statistical Officer (JSO), Statistical Investigator Grade II, etc., candidates must have studied specific subjects in 12th or Graduation such as Mathematics, Statistics, etc.
Note: Appearing candidates cannot apply for SSC CGL 2024.
Age Limit
Candidates must fulfil the following age criteria on the cutoff date. Age relaxation in the upper age limit will be applied over and above the below-mentioned limit. Post-wise age limits are mentioned below:
- Assistant Enforcement Officer: 18-30 years
- Assistant Section Officer (in some Ministries): 20-30 years
- Assistant Section Officer: 18-30 years
- Junior Statistical Officer: 18-32 years
- Sub-Inspector: 18-30 years
- Tax Assistant: 18-27 years

Nationality
Candidates applying for SSC CGL must ensure that they are a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan. Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) of certain countries are also eligible to apply if they intend to permanently settle in India.
Stages in SSC CGL 2024
The SSC CGL selection process involves mainly three stages i.e. two CBTs followed by online Post Preference Form filling. At last, candidates undergo final document verification and other formalities before finally joining the respective Departments/Ministries. The stages of SSC CGL 2024 are summarized below:

SSC CGL 2024 Exam Pattern
The online CBT for SSC CGL is conducted in two stages i.e. Tier 1 and Tier 2. The Tier 1 exam will be qualifying in nature and the final merit list will be calculated on the basis of the marks scored by the candidates in the Tier 2 Exam. To score well, the candidates need to prepare for both stages of the exam in an efficient manner. The first step of the preparation process is to be aware of the pattern of both Tier 1 and Tier 2. SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Pattern
The Tier 1 SSC CGL exam consists of one test of 60 minutes having 100 questions from four subjects in equal weightage. Important points regarding the SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Pattern are given here:

SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam Pattern
Tier 2 of the SSC CGL exam or CGL Mains exam consists of three papers. Only Paper I is mandatory for everyone qualifying in Tier 1. Paper II and Paper III are for the Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and Assistant Audit Officer (AAO)/ Assistant Accounts Officer, respectively.
- Paper 1, Compulsory for all posts, Duration: 1 hour
- Paper 2, Mandatory for JSOs, Duration: 2 hours

SSC CGL Salary Details
Those who get this government job through SSC CGL get a high salary and allowances. The pay level ranges from Level 4 to Level 8 while the basic pay granted to SSC CGL employees is between Rs. 25,500 to Rs. 47,600. Apart from the basic pay, candidates also get all the usual allowances under the Central Government such as Dearness Allowance (50% of the Basic Pay), House Rent Allowance (HRA, variable with category of city posted to), Insurance, NPS, CGHS, etc.

The application fee must be paid at the last step of the online application process to register successfully. Candidates can pay online application fees using BHIM UPI, net banking, credit cards, or debit cards. Those who opt to pay offline can generate an SBI Challan and pay in cash at SBI branches.
