The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has made the detailed syllabus available for the candidates of RRB ALP 2024 with the release of the official Notification. The selection of suitable candidates for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP)  is a multi-stage process and consists of CBT 1, CBT 2, CBAT and DV. RRB ALP Selection Process 2024

As mentioned earlier also, the selection of suitable candidates will be done through a four-stage process. The candidates need to clear both the Computer-Based Tests i.e. CBT 1 & 2 in order to be eligible for the CBAT (Computer-Based Aptitude Test). Those who qualify for all these stages will be called for the document verification process and the candidates who qualify for all final cutoffs and have the required documents in place will be selected for the posts of APL after they satisfy the medical standards.

The first stage of the selection process is the CBT 1 exam and which contains 75 questions divided into 4 sections i.e. Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Science and General Awareness & Current Affairs. RRB ALP CBT 1 Exam Pattern 2024

After getting acquainted with the selection process, the candidates also need to know the structure of the exam at each stage. The CBT 1 and 2 will be held in online mode and will contain multiple-choice questions. The CBT 1 will test the candidates on 75 questions worth 75 marks and will be held for 60 minutes. There will be a 1/3rd negative marking applicable to the CBT 1 exam.

RRB ALP Syllabus 2024 for CBT 2

The second stage in the selection process is the Computer-Based Test 2. It tests the candidates on a deeper level with one section of the paper dedicated to the trade they have applied for. RRB ALP Exam Pattern 2024 for CBT 2

The candidates who perform well in the first CBT will advance to the next stage. The CBT 2 question paper will contain a total of 175  questions (Part A- 100, Part B – 75). It will be held for a composite time of 2 hours and 30 minutes. In this stage also, there will be a negative of 1/3rd of the marks allotted to each question. RRB ALP CBAT Syllabus 2024

After the CBT 1 and CBT 2 Exams, the candidates will advance to the Computer Based Aptitude Test. The official notification states that candidates equal to 8 times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted for the CBAT stage. Moreover, it also provides the following details regarding this stage.

  • The merit list calculation involves giving 70% weightage to the marks obtained in Part A of the Computer-Based Test (CBT) II and 30% weightage to the marks obtained in the Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT).
  • The candidates will be required to clear each test battery/section separately with a minimum T-Score of 42 marks to clear this stage successfully.
  • The tests in the CBAT stage will be conducted only in English and Hindi and there will be no negative marking in this stage of the selection process.
